Camouflaging a prototype may look easy (ie. slapping on some camouflage and bob's your uncle), but it's actually very complicated. Wrapping the car too much might affect its aerodynamics and performance, wrapping too less might reveal the cars design. Automakers face this problem with every new model they come up with, and for Ford, wrapping the Mustang in camouflage was a hard one.

Great post. Years ago I worked with/for Chrysler at their proving grounds in Chelsea, Mi. The job was to disturb lines of vision with trees, rocks and anything that would look natural Quite a task, but fun.

Man has the official title of "Camouflage Co-ordinator". Both WTF?!, and I want his job.

I saw one of those camoed Mustangs coming down I-94 around M-59, I would say maybe 2 weeks ago. I snapped a couple blurry shots with my phone, but nothing to really write home about.
They did a pretty good job. The front was disernable, mostly because freeway speed and wind helped show the front-end shape, but the back was solid.

I would insist on "Master... of Disguise".

47 seconds in "only vehicle that has gone for 50 years"... WTF?

It will be interesting to see what they do with the camo if there is to be a Mustang similar in nature to the GT500. It will probably take a little bit of creativity to conceal the car while not obstructing cool air to a potentially monstrously hi-output car.

We've already seen that. It was covered here and elsewhere. Photos here:

Oh wow, I haven't seen these pictures before. That possible duct work on the hood reminds me of the scoops found on the 03-04 'Terminator' Cobras. Thanks for sharing!

I think it looks better with the camouflage on.

Great video! Not going to say I know the guy at 1:45, but I know the guy at 1:45.

You didn't have to link a Beetle there, the 911 came out in 63 (As 1964 models). That's 50 years of uninterrupted and untainted 911 history right there.
Actually longer than the Mustang come to think of it.

Only vehicle that's gone fifty years?
Sorry, but the Falcon beat you to it. And that's not even mentioning other makes.

I find those zebra camo paint schemes bring a lot of attention to the vehicle. wouldn't they be better off painting them to look like an old beater?

The Camaro went away for a few years, so with the newest model, it's started the count over.

What is sitting on the driver's seat at the 1:00 mark? Looks like a Jeopardy answer button stalk but I'm guessing a kill switch? Hennessey had one in his hand during that 200 mph blast in the Vette in Texas.
